What Health Systems Miss - and What Your Enterprise Can Do About It

Most health and care enterprises are working from an incomplete picture of reality.

The data, the patient personas, the clinical outcomes, the service pathways, the reimbursement frameworks, the innovation processes - all of it captures what systems can measure, classify, support, and fund. What it rarely captures is the full texture of what people are actually living through.

That is not a failing of intent or effort. Health systems do extraordinary things. But they were not designed to see the daily reality of life with a chronic condition - the vigilance, the fragility, the shrinking world, the constant work of keeping things from unravelling. And when that dimension is missing from the foundation, everything built on top of it - the products, the services, the value arguments, the innovations - is working from a partial picture.

That partiality has consequences. Innovations that test well but underperform at launch. Value arguments that do not convince payers. Services that look right on paper but feel wrong in practice. Opportunities in chronic condition markets that remain invisible because everyone is looking through the same lens.

Real Lived Experience - RLX - addresses that gap. Not by replacing what systems already do well. By adding a dimension of perception that makes everything else more effective.

In this 30-minute session, Chris Lawer - founder of Umio and creator of the RLX framework - will show you what that shift in perception makes possible.

In 15 focused minutes you will see what RLX reveals that conventional research, service design, and market analysis rarely reaches. How it produces reimbursement and value arguments grounded in how health is actually lived. And what Bergson - the world's first Experiential Intelligence platform - produces in practice, for any condition, any population, anywhere in the world.

Then 15 minutes of open Q&A. Ask anything.

Tuesday 31 March 1600 BST | 1700 CET | 1100 EST Zoom - 30 minutes. No slides for the sake of slides. No padding.

Register now.

This is the first in a regular series of short sessions on RLX, Bergson, and what Experiential Intelligence means for health and care innovation. Each session will be 30 minutes - 15 minutes of substance, 15 minutes of questions.

Chris Lawer - CPI Event - The Wound Experience Field Promo-2

Wounds mark the fault lines of modern care.

They don’t just happen to bodies - they happen to systems.

They expose where care unravels: In strained services, in communities of scarcity, in overstretched nursing systems, in lives stretched by poverty and neglect.

Each wound marks a place where the social body itself has been hurt.

At the Innovation in MedTech and Diagnostics Conference 2025 (London, Oct 21), Chris will explore how rethinking wounds as Real Lived Experience (RLX) fields - not just sites of pathology - opens an exciting new frontier for diagnostics, design, and system transformation.

Moving beyond dressings and devices, the Wound Experience Field reframes innovation around the real - where affect, materiality, relation, trust, meaning and many other factors shape healing (and prevention) as much as biology does.

Join the conversation on how Design with Real Lived Experience helps create new forms of experiential, relational, perceptual, and ethical intelligence across the next wave of MedTech, Digital and NHS transformation.

Zoom webinar

Join Chris Lawer, Umio founder on 1st April at 16:30 (UK time) for a live webinar where he will share the emerging contours of a more radical way to see, sense, design, and co-create value and impact in health, care, and wider systems.

At the core of this approach is a new capacity - what we call Experiential Perception: The ability to perceive and intuit the dynamic, relational, and evolving experiences of others as they navigate conditions, transitions, and life-worlds.

In this talk, Chris shall demonstrate how Bergson - our lived experience insight app - activates this capacity to go beyond the numbers, beyond the symptoms, and into the real affective and systemic realities of living with illness, disability, or change.

This shift opens up powerful new possibilities for care, prevention, empowerment, recovery, and design - ones that truly respond to how people live, not just what they report.

Introducing the New Bergson

Trained on Umio frameworks and redesigned with your feedback, Bergson is a live, AI-powered insight platform built to support:

  • Lived experience–centred research
  • Meaningful innovation
  • Deep design intelligence
  • Inclusive and emergent value creation

Bergson delivers transformative insight reports in 90 seconds, giving you immediate access to real, nuanced, and actionable perspectives grounded in lived reality.

If you’re ready to think differently about health, care, systems, and design - this is the conversation for you.

Let’s move beyond the surface and into real lived experience.

See you there.
