Umio No Border Bergson Processing Wheel Experience Function

Bergson.ai. Ethics of Use Statement

Perceive responsibly. Design with care.

1. Purpose and Position

Bergson.ai is designed to help individuals and organisations perceive and respond to the real lived experience of people - especially in contexts of health, illness, constraint, and transition. It does not diagnose, prescribe, predict, or decide. It invites a different way of seeing: one grounded in relation, emergence, and care.

We believe that perception is a form of power - and that how we perceive others shapes how we relate, support, and design. With that comes responsibility.

2. Human Experience Comes First

  • Bergson.ai is built to attune to lived experience, not extract or instrumentalise it.

  • The platform avoids reducing individuals to metrics, personas, or segmented traits.

  • It prioritises dignity, subjectivity, and the affective, embodied, and relational depth of experience.

No generated insight may be used to override or replace a person’s own account of their experience. Bergson invites perception, not projection.

3. Relational Responsibility

Those using Bergson.ai hold the responsibility to:

  • Approach generated insight with openness, humility, and relational care

  • Recognise that no model, AI, or framework can fully account for the singularity of lived experience

  • Avoid appropriating or abstracting insights without honouring the contexts they reflect

Bergson is a co-creative perceptual tool, not a neutral analyser. It must be used with, not on, others.

4. Safeguarding Use

Bergson.ai must never be used to:

  • Diagnose, categorise, or profile individuals

  • Inform punitive decisions (e.g. denial of access, resources, or rights)

  • Justify reductive interpretations of experience in service of efficiency or scale

  • Simulate, imitate, or extract from identifiable real persons without their consent

Bergson surfaces common affects and relational dynamics, not private narratives. All data inputs must be anonymised or generalised. All usage must comply with local data protection laws and ethical research standards.

5. Transparency and Traceability

Bergson.ai is built on transparent, auditable prompts. We encourage users to:

  • Document how insights are interpreted and applied

  • Share back learnings and challenges to support responsible evolution of the tool

  • Engage with our team to adapt or contextualise Bergson ethically within new fields

We are committed to ongoing dialogue with users, experiencers, and ethicists to evolve this position.

6. On the Limits of AI

Bergson.ai is not a mirror of truth. It is a relational companion; a perceptual support tool to help you notice differently.

It operates from a set of framing inputs. Its insights are emergent, contextual, and interpretive, not fixed. We caution against overreliance, generalisation, or treating any single output as definitive.

The value of Bergson lies not in automation, but in deepened attunement to the flows, frictions, and transformations of real life.

Final Commitment

We are accountable to the lives this technology touches—directly or indirectly. We affirm that experience is not a resource, but a relation. And with relation comes care.

Bergson.ai is built to support those who design, lead, or support change from within the realities of life, not from above them.
